Property Preparation Checklist

Before Photography & Videography

Proper preparation ensures brighter spaces, consistent colors, and professional-looking results in photos and video.

Exterior & Outdoor Areas

☐ Remove cars from driveway and street-facing areas
☐ Hide trash bins, tools, hoses, bikes, toys
☐ Sweep entrances, patios, balconies, terraces
☐ Mow lawn, trim plants, remove dry leaves
☐ Clean outdoor furniture and arrange neatly
☐ Clean pool and remove pool accessories
☐ Close garage doors
☐ Turn on exterior lights if shooting at dusk

General Interior Preparation

☐ Declutter all rooms (less is more on camera)
☐ Remove personal items, documents, photos
☐ Deep clean floors, windows, mirrors, glass
☐ Dust all surfaces and corners
☐ Vacuum carpets and rugs
☐ Hide cables, chargers, remotes, power strips
☐ Remove pet items and relocate pets during shoot
☐ Empty trash bins

Lighting (Very Important)

☐ Replace all burnt-out bulbs
☐ Use bulbs with the same color temperature in every room
☐ Avoid mixing warm and cool light (no yellow + white together)
☐ Turn all lights ON before the shoot
☐ Open curtains and blinds to maximize natural light

👉 Recommended: warm white (around 3000–3500K) for residential properties.

Living Areas

☐ Arrange furniture to create open walkways
☐ Remove excess chairs, stools, side tables
☐ Straighten cushions and throws
☐ Align chairs, tables, décor items
☐ Remove shoes, bags, jackets

Kitchen

☐ Clear countertops of small appliances
☐ Remove dish racks, sponges, soaps
☐ Clean sink, stovetop, oven, backsplash
☐ Hide cleaning products
☐ Remove magnets, notes, papers from fridge

Bedrooms

☐ Make beds neatly with smooth bedding
☐ Use neutral bed covers if possible
☐ Clear nightstands (lamp + 1 item max)
☐ Put away clothes, shoes, laundry
☐ Hide storage boxes under beds

Bathrooms

☐ Clear all toiletries from surfaces
☐ Clean mirrors, glass, tiles
☐ Close toilet lids
☐ Fold fresh towels neatly
☐ Hide bins, toilet brushes

Final Check Before Shoot

☐ Walk through the property room by room
☐ Check reflections in mirrors and glass
☐ Make sure all lights are on
☐ Remove anything that draws attention unnecessarily
